DTN COMMENTS:  A few deals have been reported in parts of Nebraska at 
mostly $370, $6 lower than last week's weighted average a few sold at 
$376, even with last week's weighted average. A few more bids are on the 
table in Kansas and Texas, but they continue to be passed. Asking prices 
are around $240-plus in the South. A more significant trade will likely 
be delayed until later today and/or Friday. 

Today's slaughter totaled 112,000 head, 5,000 less than last week, and 
11,000 less than a year ago. Note that yesterday's kill was revised down 
3,000 head to 117,000. Cattle futures closed sharply higher on both live 
(up 127 to 172) and feeder (up 255 to 315) contracts. Beef cutouts are 
expected to close lower with light to moderate box movement.
